Driving School Tilia
A friendly driving school. With you for over 30 years.
The waiting time tells you one thing only: how long after enrolling you can start your driving lessons. Once you are in the queue and you start, you drive regularly, with no more waiting between lessons. Below we explain how it works and what you can expect.
The waiting time is not waiting between lessons. It is the time from enrolling to your first lesson. Once, at the start.
When you fill in the sign-up for driving lessons, the office registers you and you choose your instructor in the app. Every instructor shows in how many weeks they take on new learners: that is their personal waiting time. The number above is not an average but a range: from the instructor you can start with soonest to the busiest one. If speed matters more to you than a particular instructor, choose the one with the shortest waiting time in the app.
When it is your turn, you and your instructor agree on regular lesson times. From then on there is no more waiting: you usually have lessons every week (or several times a week if you want to go faster) until you are ready for the driving test. The average learner needs 30 to 35 hours; more about that here (in Slovenian).
Lesson times are agreed between you and your instructor, not the office and not the app. We know how full a schedule can be with studies or work, so our instructors adapt to your schedule: early in the morning, in the afternoon, in a free hour. We also do our best to start and end the lesson at a place that suits you (outside your faculty, at home or at work) when that is reasonably possible.
What happens in the weeks of waiting and what you can do in the meantime so that you start well prepared.
You fill in the sign-up for driving lessons, the office registers you (usually the same or the next working day) and you choose your instructor in the app. When you choose, look at the waiting time, the language and the location: all three are shown for every instructor.
By law, to start driving lessons you need a completed CPP course, a valid medical certificate and a passed theory exam (CPP exam) at the administrative unit; for the driving test you also need the first aid exam. Use the waiting time to sort this out, because your instructor may not start without the passed theory exam.
When it is your turn, you agree on the first time and place. The first lessons are usually on the training ground, then you go out into traffic. From then on you drive regularly, on a schedule you set together.
An instructor takes on only as many learners as they can drive with regularly. It is better to wait a few weeks and then drive every week than to start right away and then wait for every lesson.
Every instructor sets in the app in how many weeks they take on new learners. The figure updates immediately and you see it when you choose.
Lessons start at Gerbičeva 44 or, by arrangement, at another place in Ljubljana. Driving tests take place at the exam center on Cesta dveh cesarjev.
Yes. The waiting time is different for every instructor. If speed matters more to you than a particular instructor, choose one marked Right away or 1 week (Takoj or 1 teden in the Slovenian app).
Sign up for the next course date; the course takes 6 days. By law you can only start driving lessons once you have passed the theory exam at the administrative unit and have a valid medical certificate, so sort out the course and the exam as soon as possible, ideally during the waiting time. You can see how much time you have at the top of this page, and for every instructor in the app.
The new instructor's waiting time applies. If they are currently taking learners right away, you carry on without a break.
Yes, if the instructor's schedule allows it. Tell them when you first arrange things: a faster pace works better for most learners.
In the app, on the home screen (lessons driven, paid and owed) and in the Progress tab, which has your full lesson history.
Signing up takes two minutes. While you wait, you sort out the CPP course, the medical exam and first aid, so you start ready.
