Additional training for novice drivers

Safe driving.
Truly mandatory.

After you pass the driving test, there is one more step: additional training on a training ground. The point is not bureaucracy. The point is that you react correctly and calmly in a critical situation on the road.

What is safe driving

Not just a formality.

Safe driving is an additional programme for novice drivers required by law. After you get your licence, you must complete it within a set period.

Safe driving is a programme of additional training, where you refresh your knowledge of the traffic rules, learn some new useful information and then test your driving on a training ground.

The training ground is not like the one from your first driving lessons: it is much more demanding and much more fun. It has slippery surfaces, sharp bends, moving floor plates and more.

The instructors want to prepare you to react correctly in a dangerous situation, so you get a feel for what it is like when you do not have full control of the car, and how to respond to that too.

Under Article 39 of the Road Traffic Safety Act (ZVCP) a novice driver must complete the additional training for novice drivers (safe driving) at least six months after the licence is issued and within two years at the latest.

The moment of decision

On the training ground you get a feel for how the car behaves in critical situations and how to respond correctly.

Removing penalty points

Also for drivers who have had an unlucky incident.

All holders of a valid driving licence who reach at least 4 and no more than 17 penalty points can attend the safe driving education and training programme for removing penalty points.

You can also be referred to the penalty point removal programme by the Ministry of Justice, or you can sign up on your own.

Important: you can take the penalty point removal programme only once every 3 years. When you complete it, 4 points are removed.
