General questions
You can register for the main driving test after completing 20 hours of driving. This means the 21st hour can already be the test.
The average number of hours in Ljubljana is around 35.
According to data from AVP RS, the average pass rate is around 50%.
If you're taking the driving test, you cannot drive in your own car—unless it's adapted to your needs and meets all standards. However, if you're only doing refresher lessons (skill reinforcement with a valid driving licence), you can drive in your own car by prior arrangement.
A driving lesson typically lasts 50 minutes. These 50 minutes include preparation for driving, the actual driving, and reflection and discussion between the instructor and candidate.
Prerequisites for the practical part (driving) are successfully completing the CPP course and CPP exam, completing the first aid course, and obtaining a medical certificate.
The first step is choosing a driving school and registering for the CPP course. Meanwhile, you can also register for first aid and complete the medical examination.
At your current driving school, request a transfer certificate and submit your driving record card. With the transfer document, you then re-enrol at the new driving school, where you receive a new driving record card. Note: if you've already passed the CPP exam, you must go to any UE office for a new stamp before you can start driving lessons.
Always bring: a valid ID document (student ID is not valid), your driving record card, and your medical certificate. You must not be intoxicated or under the influence of prohibited substances.
Obtaining a car licence can be quite a drawn-out process, but it also depends on you. If you pass everything on the first attempt, things move relatively quickly—on average 3–6 months. If you barely drive in between or repeat tests, the process can drag on for over a year.
You can start the CPP course at age 16.
Yes, we also offer driving with an automatic transmission. However, it's important to know: if you take the test on an automatic, you later cannot drive a manual transmission. The reverse (test on manual → driving automatic) is allowed. 🙂 You can, of course, complete an additional practical part on a manual transmission to obtain permission for both.
The registration fee covers administrative enrolment costs and is non-refundable. Other services are handled individually based on the candidate's progress.
Yes. If the teaching method or communication doesn't suit you, you can change instructors by arrangement.
It depends on slot availability, your schedule, and the instructor. Many candidates drive several times a week.
Notify the instructor or driving school as soon as possible. Late cancellations (less than 24 hours) may be charged according to the price list.
Some driving instructors also teach on weekends; it all depends on the arrangement between you and the instructor.
Yes, if you've also completed first aid and the medical examination.
Yes, by arrangement it's possible to combine appointments with different instructors.

Of course, we offer driving instructors who speak English fluently and are happy to help you obtain your licence.
As a rule, no, unless a special request is made and agreed upon in advance with the instructor.
Yes. If you have glasses or lenses prescribed in your medical certificate, you must use them during both driving and the test.
We recommend comfortable clothing and footwear with good pedal feel. Driving in flip-flops or high heels is strongly discouraged.

Main driving test
The main driving test typically lasts 50 minutes. It may finish slightly earlier or later—depending on road conditions. If the examiner determines the drive is unsuccessful, they may terminate it early.
Just like for the theory exam, you register for the main driving test at the Administrative Unit. There you choose the date and desired location.
You greet and introduce yourself to the examiner. Together with the instructor, all three of you get into the car. The examiner may ask some theoretical or practical questions. Then the drive begins—the instructor must not help during the drive, as you must drive completely independently. The examiner gives instructions until the end. At the end, they provide feedback and tell you whether you passed or not.
The driving instructor generally does not intervene in your driving during the main test—except in cases where it could prevent an accident, dangerous behaviour, or serious traffic violations—this usually also means a negative assessment on the test drive.
You re-register for the driving test and, if necessary, complete additional driving hours.
Yes. You can take the test in a vehicle with an automatic transmission.
As a rule, yes, if the vehicle is available and not otherwise agreed.

No, the so-called "club test" has not been mandatory for some time. Of course, your driving instructor will prepare you appropriately and also show you the test starting location, which you'll also practice.
Immediately after the test, you can go to the Administrative Unit; it's visible in the system within just a few minutes that you've successfully passed the test. There you receive a temporary driving licence, valid only for Slovenia; later, within a few weeks, you'll also receive your actual driving licence.
Accompanied driving
Accompanied driving is an option that allows you, after turning 16 and passing the CPP exam, to drive a car accompanied by a qualified supervisor (usually a parent who has had a driving licence for at least 5 years). More information can be found on the Accompanied Driving page.
You can start after turning 16 and passing the CPP exam.
The supervisor must meet the following conditions: At least 27 years old, at least 5 years of valid Category B driving licence, no more than 5 penalty points in the recent period, and officially registered at the UE as the candidate's supervisor in the driving record card.
Yes, if they all meet the conditions and are properly registered.
