Renewal for older drivers

Renewing your driving licence after age 80.

From the age of 80, the driving licence is renewed every two years. We help you with everything, from the medical examination to the instructor's opinion.

How to renew your licence

Everything you need.

Besides the medical certificate you may also need a psychologist's opinion and a driving school's opinion, depending on the doctor's decision.

To renew your driving licence, first book a medical examination. We recommend Holmed or Medicina dela, prometa in športa.

The doctor checks your physical and mental fitness and decides whether you need to see a psychologist and whether an additional driving instructor's opinion from a driving school of your choice is needed.

This is where we come in. The easiest way is to call our driving school on 01 429 20 29 and book a drive at a time that suits you.

Important: choosing the right driving school matters, as not every school is the same. We suggest you check your options nearby and contact us for more information.
Renewal procedure

How the assessment drive works with us.

On the renewal drive we do together with you what the doctor asks for. No stress, no unnecessary paperwork.

Booking

Call us and book a time

Call 01 429 20 29 to choose a time for the drive that suits you best. No long waiting, no pressure.

Office

Come 10 minutes early

On the day, come to our office at Gerbičeva ulica 44, Ljubljana, at least 10 minutes before the drive, so we can take care of the paperwork and payment. It takes about 4 minutes.

Your car

You can drive your own car

We also recommend it, because it is the car you know best. If you prefer, you can drive our school car.

CPP refresher

We refresh the traffic rules together

You first meet the instructor at the office and go over the traffic rules together, then you head to the car for the drive.

Drive

~50 minutes of driving

The drive usually takes no longer than 50 minutes. The instructor checks how you handle the motorway, roundabouts, small and large junctions, parking and similar.

Opinion

We send the opinion to your doctor

After the drive you return to the driving school together, where the instructor explains the assessment in detail (and any new restrictions). We e-mail the opinion to your doctor, and you also get a printed copy.
